You should think of cleaning your glasses as washing your clothes. It ensures that your glasses are always in top condition and can drastically extend the life of your glasses. With daily use, your glasses can come into contact with sweat, perfume, hair products and other substances that can potentially damage your glasses if they remain in contact for long periods of time.
Cleaning lenses
First, remove any grains of sand on and around the lenses. You can do this by rinsing the glasses under lukewarm water and then rubbing the sand off with your finger. Make sure you do this with minimal pressure, because if you press hard on a lens with grains of sand on it, scratches can occur. Then you can use a small amount of dishwashing liquid and a little more pressure from your fingers to polish off any more dirt from the lens. If you have a special lens cleaning spray at home with an alcohol percentage of less than 5%, you can also use that for this step. Once you have done that, you can pat the lenses dry with a cloth or kitchen roll. As a final step, you can polish the lenses with a microfiber cloth. The included Oakley microbag is also suitable for this. Make sure you wash/rinse these microfiber cloths every now and then to prevent dirt from building up in the cloth.
Cleaning the frame
To clean the frame you can also rinse it under lukewarm water and if the frame is still a bit dirty afterwards you can use a cloth with some dishwashing liquid to polish it off. The frame does not scratch easily, so it does not require that much care of the lenses. The rubber parts (the Earsocks and Nose pieces) can also be cleaned with dishwashing liquid and a cloth, a bit more pressure can be used here.
Oakley Earsocks and Nosepieces
The rubber parts of Oakley are made of Unobtainium, which is a special formula rubber, which gets more grip when it gets wet. This is ideal to guarantee a safe fitting under all circumstances, but this does have the result that these rubber parts can no longer be cleaned properly after years because it is simply finished. We often have them in stock for your model and you can order a new set from us.
